Ocean Girl Project is hosting Hawaii’s first back-2-school pop-up “free store for kids”  created entirely on the street, run by volunteers, and stocked by donations. We support kids giving back to kids less fortunate. This is the first in a series of four 2016 community projects for kids led by girl team leaders. They are doing an awesome job!

The Street Store. A street store is an approachable space on a fence where we hang donated clothes; we place shoes and school supplies in open boxes, and allow homeless families to help themselves to what they need.We are coordinating this event with IHS (Institute for Human Services) and it is being set up on the fence across from the facility.

Spread Love. Of course we added aloha to our street store, we add aloha to all that we do. This is an ocean girl driven event. The adults are helpers and supervisors, the girls are  team leaders. Having an opportunity to be leaders empowers girls, build confidence and creates a wave of positive change that can spread across the world.

Here are 3 Ways you can Help

1. Needful Kid Things. Many of you have or know someone who has something that homeless kids don’t; good condition clothing and shoes that kids no longer wear. Please spread the word to friends and family; ask your local store to donate surplus clothing items to clear space for the new season.  Bring items to the street store event on Saturday October 1st, feel the aloha and good vibes.
2. Show up. We need and greatly appreciate volunteers. Kids and adults are welcome on the day of event to help hang clothes. An hour of time is helpful. Easily sign up on our Facebook event page, just click going.
3. Positive Partnership. Ocean Girl Project is not a fad or a brand, we are real people, full of passion and commitment to grow and inspire the next generation of strong confident girls. We have firmly established ourselves as positive youth leaders and engaging innovators for positive change. We provide valuable ocean education, develop girls self-confidence, we teach sustainable real life skills, we create useful things and teach kids how to become entrepreneurs, we offer challenging outdoor ocean activities like surfing and paddling, we are strongly connected to our community and offer free classes and scholarships to local girls and women. Our brand is a valued tradition of respect, caring, connection to ourselves, each other, the ocean and our future.
